EXERCISE YOUR LAZY HEAVY BODY

Let It Shake, Wiggle, Bounce, And Stretch.  Come Dance With Me,
With The Party.  In The Very Least, Let’s Walk.

I start by stating a fact that is often overlooked or not known to many:  our body has 206 bones, connected by joints, therefore, our body is meant to moveStagnation, laziness and refraining from physical activity be it walking, running, swimming, etc., etc., is not natural, harming our body, mind and spirit.

BENEFITS OF REGULAR EXERCISE:

  1. Exercise especially aerobics where the respiratory and heart rates rise, energize and work as natural, effective antidepressant and a good prescription to relief stress and anxiety.

  2. Exercise upgrades the mechanical efficiency and endurance level of the heart.

  3. By lowering your blood pressure exercise can help prevent or lessen hardening of your blood vessels, a disease known as arteriosclerosis is the primary cause of heart attacks and strokes.  These two diseases claim the lives of 800,000 Americans annually in addition to disabling many more.

  4. Exercise can help control the severity of diabetes and in some instances, the disease itself can all together be prevented by exercise.  While exercising muscles burn calories, putting insulin to work; insulin regulates the blood sugar levels.  Diabetes spawns many complications ruining our kidneys, eyes and blood vessels everywhere, jeopardizing limbs and other parts.  It compromises our ability to heal even minor cuts or bruises and undermines our natural immunity, thus making us susceptible to a host of infections.

  5. Arthritis is a crippling, painful disease that torments old and young. Judicious motion of different parts of the body can be crucial in bringing relief or even a possibility of a cure or a long remission.  Inactivity causes bone resorption known as osteoporosis; bone fractures increases in incidence and bones will heal at a much slower rate.

  6. Exercises elevates mood and restores stamina.  It gives a substantial boost to the immune system – our natural defense mechanism against not only infections but also against a potential and most dreaded enemy:  cancer.

  7. Well tailored and caliberated exercise helps avoid obesity and overweight.  Obesity is the harpenger of many ailments: heart attacks, strokes, hypertension, diabetes and cancer.

  8. Those who exercise regularly suffer much less body injuries.  They stumble less, if they do; they spring up fast, if injured; it is likely to be a lesser injury, healing is faster as well.

  9. Less occurrence of deep vein thrombosis.  These thrombi can travel to the lungs, situation known as pulmonary embolism which can be very, very harmful or even fatal.

There is no age limit for exercise but if you are over 40 and beginning to exercise, consult your doctor first and start slowly and very gradually increase time and speed.

Ideally six times a week for forty five minutes to one hour, four times a week is satisfactory.

What kind of exercise:  You name it.  Swimming, stretch exercises, resistance exercises, Pilates, tennis, what have you.  A variety is better.

Let us dance.  There is nothing more exhilarating than dancing to good music; the sway, the swing, the soar and the trot.  My!  My!  Merely talking about it, I feel ecstasy.

Let’s walk, let’s dance.  EXERCISE.  EXERCISE.  EXERCISE.
