WATCHING PROTOPLASM AND DNA And, like most of you, I am haunted, daunted, taunted. Hem! How come? Well! What do you expect? RIDING ON THE SWING OF LIFE, IT all goes back and forth, up and down. And in between the swings I wonder why? But, THE WHY BRINGS FORTH ANOTHER WHY and on to another why. AND WHEN I SEEM TO RUN OUT OF WHY, HERE COME THE WHERES? Where is it? Where to go? Where did yesterday’s sunrise and sunset go? Where? Where even comes down to where my shoes are? Where did I put my glasses? Oh, my pen, where is it? OUT OF WHERES, FOR THE TIME BEING, HOWS COME IN, all pretending to be all – knowing and smart. So, I experiment with the hows. But I realize my hows are not perfect or maybe it is me who is not up to the demands and measure of my hows. So, I revise, reconsider and look for the big HOW; as if size and height matter. And so it goes. SO, I TAKE MYSELF WITH ME FOR A WALK TO THE MEADOWS. And I see the tree, patient, quietly processing oxygen and making her own food. The birds quibbling, flirting and flying…dancing. And in my own little studio; within, a band starts playing rhymes and songs. And my feet move to the sound of music and I see on the stage of my own mind dervishes dancing, whirling…in ecstasy, So, I join the dance, STEPS COMING NATURALLY, AS IF I AM BORN TO DANCE! Ah! That little, shy, clumsy child; soaring, soaring. How come? And on, here comes Rumi the Great seer and poet, so I pay homage to the Master. Oh! Before I forget, in the park I met some old friends; squirrels, pigeons, seagulls, falling leaves, crows, pelicans and that self-absorbed, megalomaniac the peacock. And on a luckier day, I meet a coyote or two. As for my conversations with the coyotes, I won’t tell for I don’t want any one to question nor confirm my sanity. Now the Whys, Wheres and Hows, all faded away. I am going to live my life like a rose. Without a why. Just bloom. Turn to the sun. And tread my way. I HAVE NO TIME TO GRUMBLE, BUT I HAVE ROOM TO STUMBLE AND IF I DO, I WILL RISE AGAIN. AGAIN. AND AGAIN.
